The Wild and Scenic Chattooga River slips out of the mountains of North Carolina and into northern
Georgia cold, clear,
untamed, and fiercely alive. The river embodies a mystical quality,
and dissolves boundaries:
between states, between past and present, between human time and river time.
Often shrouded in mist, the river inspires a sense of wonder. Within its course the mind
becomes quiet. The world somehow wider. More open, even amid the tight slopes of the
river's boundaries.
From the Cherokee Tsatu-gi means "Has crossed the stream."
As a metaphor, for us at Shatuga,
it symbolizes the transformation we are experiencing into new ways of being human,
especially
with A.I. in the mix. We've crossed into something wild, and untamed.
The Cherokee people once inhabited these lands at times unchallenged. And so to honor
this heritage, we are offering Shatuga to you - as a free service - for we have crossed
into a new place - a new time - together.
